more and more significance in our country. There abound numerous novel gadgets in our
daily life.
There exist countless contributors for this phenomenon mentioned above, while the
following might be the most critical ones. To begin with, seen from the individual' s
perspective, once equipped with innovation, he could be compelled to be never satisfied with
his status quo, which guarantees his personal success. Apart from that, innovation is the main
driving force behind increased competitiveness. To be the unrivaled one in the whole world, a
nation has to keep abreast with time, ensuring the dominance of creation.
To put all into a nutshell, it goes without saying that innovation does matter. On the one
hand, relevant authorities are supposed to set up relevant rules and regulations so as to

（二）人称与时态的确定
人称：根据题目内容确定合适的人称。如果是描述个人经历，如“My Most Embarrassing Moment”（我最尴尬的时刻），通常使用人称“I”；如果是讲述普遍现象或者他人的情况，可能会用到第三人称“he”“she”“they”等。例如在论述“Students' Pressure in Modern Society”（现代社会中学生的压力）时，会使用第三人称“students”来进行论述。在一些书信等应用文写作中，根据写信的对象，可能会用到人称和第二人称，如给朋友的信中，会频繁使用“you”（你）和“I”（我）。
时态：时态的选择要与题目内容和写作情境相匹配。
如果是描述过去发生的事情，像“An Interesting Trip in the Past”（过去的一次有趣旅行），就要使用一般过去时，如“I went to Beijing last year. I visited the Great Wall.”（我去年去了北京。我参观了长城）。
对于阐述现在的状况或者一般事实的题目，如“The Popularity of Smart Phones”（智能手机的普及），则使用一般现在时，例如“Smart phones are very popular among people nowadays. They have many functions.”（如今智能手机在人们当中非常流行。它们有很多功能）。
要是题目涉及到将来的计划或者预测，例如“My Future Plan”（我的未来计划）或者“What Will the World Be Like in 2050”（2050年的世界将会是什么样），就需要运用一般将来时，如“I will study hard in the future to achieve my dream.”（我将来会努力学习以实现我的梦想）。

7.chill
Chill 这个词通常跟冷有关，既可以指身体上的冷感也可以指情绪上的冷静。但是在习惯用法中chill 和veg一样有安静休息的意思，只是chill 比veg更多一层意思，就是chill也能指抑制情绪激动。下句中说话的男孩儿正努力控制自己的情绪，以便头脑清醒地考虑问题。请特别注意里面用到的 chill这个词。
例如：Oh, no! Mom's going to be so mad that we broke the window, and we'll be in deep trouble. We've got to chill and think about what story we can tell her, so she won't get too angry.
啊，糟了！妈妈看到我们打破玻璃会大发脾气，那我们就得倒霉。我们一定要冷静下来好好想一想，可以编出一套什么话来跟她说，让她别那么生气。
Chill也可以用来指纯粹放松休息。特别注意下面这个小伙子的话里用到的chill跟刚才那个例子里的chill有什么不同。
例如：We didn't do much yesterday. Tim came over to my house, and we pretty much chilled there all day. We watched TV, played a few video games, and had some snacks--nothing special.
我们昨天没做什么，Tim来我家，我们整天就在家里闲待着，我们看了会儿电视，再玩儿了几盘电子游戏，然后吃了点儿点心，没什么特别的活动。
这里的chill显然指从事一些轻松悠闲的活动，或者就是放松休息。

大学英语六级翻译中的名词转副词技巧
一、适用情况
在大学英语六级翻译中，当英语中的某些名词需要转译成汉语中的副词时，主要是基于英汉两种语言的表达习惯差异。这种转译可使译文更通顺、自然。例如：When he catches a glimpse of a potential antagonist, his instinct is to win him over with charm and humor. 句中的“instinct（本能）”是名词，转译成副词“本能地”，使句子更符合汉语表达习惯。这种转译技巧有助于在翻译过程中准确传达原文的语义和逻辑关系，同时使译文更加流畅自然，符合汉语的语言习惯。
二、具体例子及分析

分析：这里的“instinct（名词）”转译成“本能地（副词）”，若不进行转译，直译为“他的本能是用魅力和幽默赢得他（潜在对手）”会显得生硬。转译后“只要一发现有可能反对他的人，他就本能地要用他的魅力和风趣将这些人争取过来”就通顺很多

Drawers，Pants--内裤。这两个字的用法应特别留意。Pants在英国指内裤，但在美国却是长裤。(在英国，长裤为 trousers。)所以，当一位外国人说 Pants的时候，你要弄清楚他究竟是英国人还是美国人，不要把内裤变成了长裤。
Gasoline，petrol--汽油。 gasoline有时也写作 gasoline，口语上更可简写为 gas。汽油站是gas Station(＝英 Petrol station)，也可说gasoline station。但是， gasoline bomb(汽油弹)却不能说是 gas bomb。
Long-distance call，trunk call--长途电话。美式英语的 Iong-distance call词义一看便明，远胜于英式英语的trunk call，自然被多数采用。
Radio，wireless--收音机。原本两字后都有set，即radio set及 wireless set，但为了节省，一般都略去。两个字中，当然是美式英语radio流行得多。
Second floor，first floor--二楼。这种对楼宇的层数的称呼方法在不少地区造成了很大的不便。以往，许多楼宇按英式英语的叫法，故此问题尚不大。但近年来，不少的楼宇使用了美式英语的叫法，因此就产生了混乱。现在一般对人家说第若干层楼时，一定要附带说一声“电梯多少字”，以免误会。 Soft-drinks，Minerals--软饮品：汽水等不含酒精的饮料。美式英语的soft-drinks原来泛指不含酒精的饮料，包括汽水和果汁等，现时多用来指汽水，代替了原先的 air-ate water。英式英语的 minerals由于没有 soft-drains那么通行，故此用来指汽水的机会少了，但比较多用来指矿泉水，等于 mineral water。
字母Z的不同读法
这里特别提出英文字母Z的发音问题。美国人念 zee，英国人念 zed。中国人受英国人影响较深，往往把 z 念成 zed，建议大家改一改习惯，按美国发音念 zee。我国许多北方人（包括不少电台广播员〕把 z 念成“贼”，则是非改不可的了。英文字母歌里的 z，不应是英国发音 zed，而应该念成 zee，跟后面的词 Now you see / I can say my ABC 押韵。
别客气和欢迎你
美国人表示“别客气”，“不用提”等意思，常说 You're welcome。英国人从来不用 You're welcome来表示“别客气”，如果他们说 You're welcome 的话，则意思是“欢迎你”。他们表示不用谢说 Not at all 或 Don't mention it。另外，正如前面已经讲过那样，美国人也说 sure 表示“不用谢”。所以，在美国会听到这样的对话："Thank you." "Sure.”或“Thank you.”
“You're welcome.”这里需要提一下的是，在 You're welcome 里 welcome 是个形容词, 不能说成welcomed 。但是，welcome 也可以是动词，这就可能有词形变化。例如在 He was welcomed with kissed and hugs 这句话（人们以接吻和拥抱来欢迎他 )，welcome 必须写成 welcomed,以构成被动语态。
